Best NFL Week 4 performances awarded by MMQB staff

Week 4 on the NFL schedule is almost in the books (we still have Monday Night Football) and the best performances deserve to be recognized by our MMQB staff. Even if you’re feeling down because your team didn’t win, maybe one of your favorite players or coaches gets awarded a game ball by our staff. Let’s go!

Giants running back Saquon Barkley leads the NFL in rushing after his Week 4 performance against the Bears.

Mitch Goldich: Saquon Barkley, RB, Giants. Barkley entered Week 4 second in the NFL in rushing and then overtook Nick Chubb with Sunday’s 31 carries for 146 yards. He did everything, even taking snaps out of the wildcat after injuries to both Daniel Jones and Tyrod Taylor. He opened New York’s second touchdown drive with a 29-yard carry, then caught a pass to convert a third-and-9. That was all the scoring needed against the Bears, leaving the Giants now sitting improbably at 3–1. Plenty has already been

Where everybody knows her name: 2 sports bars to feature women’s games

PORTLAND — A racerback bra is centered on a hanging sign off a busy northeast Portland street. Circling the image is “The Sports Bra” wording, a combination that would lure a sports fan inside.

The entrance might even go unnotified — a collage of athletic action shots and celebrations, the now iconic photo of youth basketball player Gigi Bryant smiling adds a welcoming touch on the door.

But the “R” in The Sports Bra is a clever riff from restaurant chains Hooters or Twin Peaks. The letter’s flipped position within the word “bar” undresses the long-accepted expectation when a person wants to eat, drink and watch a game in a restaurant. Often “the game” involves men and if the pub keeps the channel on ESPN, nearly 95% of filler programming revolves around men’s leagues and players.

But not here.

The Sports Bra opened in April and claims to be the

Football losing battle with US sports, calls for ESL revival

Florentino Perez said that football is “sick” and “losing the global entertainment battle” with US sports, and he backed the dormant European Super League (ESL) project as the way to retain its position as the world’s most popular sport.

The Real Madrid president — who was speaking at the club’s annual general meeting on Sunday — has been one of the breakaway competition’s most high-profile backers since its attempted launch in April 2021.

The ESL and football’s governing bodies are pending a ruling from the European Court of Justice, due in December, on whether UEFA’s attempts to block the Super League breached European competition laws.

“To fix a problem, you have to first recognize that you have a problem,” Perez said.

iPhone 14 Pro Features Live Sports Scores in Dynamic Island on iOS 16.1

Earlier this month, Apple announced that iOS 16.1 will enable a new Live Activities feature that allows iPhone users to stay on top of things that are happening in real time, such as a sports game or a food delivery order, right from the Lock Screen. On the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max, Live Activities also integrate with the Dynamic Island.

During a Premier League match, for example, the Dynamic Island shows a live-updating scoreboard with the number of goals scored by each club. When long pressed, the Dynamic Island expands to show the time elapsed and play-by-play action.

When an iPhone 14 Pro is locked, the score is shown in a widget on the Lock Screen instead. On the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, and on all other iPhone models without the Dynamic Island, Live Activities are limited to the Lock Screen entirely.

NFL Week 2 grades: Eagles, Bills earn high marks for dominating performances on ‘Monday Night Football’

There’s a reason that Cleveland is known as the ‘Factory of Sadness.’ The Browns arguably have more improbable losses than any other team in NFL history and they added another one to their heartbreaking total on Sunday by blowing a 30-17 lead to the New York Jets in just 85 seconds.

With 1:55 left to play on Sunday, Nick Chubb scored a touchdown to put the Browns up 30-17 and it looked like Cleveland was going to coast to victory, but when you’re talking about the Browns, there’s no such thing as coasting to victory.

In a stunning turn of events, the Jets scored two touchdowns just 60 seconds apart, which allowed them to steal a 31-30 win. If you’re wondering how improbable the loss was, here’s your answer.

For the most part, the Browns played an impressive game, but they couldn’t overcome SIX monumental mistakes, which all took place

DirectTV ‘NFL Sunday Ticket’ outage leaves fans without football during Week 2

If this indeed is DirecTV’s last run at “NFL Sunday Ticket,” it’s not going well.

After Week 1 issues prompted an apology from the DirecTV, an outage during Week 2 left fans without access to football. The day started out without any apparent issues during kickoff and the first quarter of the NFL’s early slate of games. But fans on social media began to note issues as second quarters got underway.

Instead of live football, fans using DirecTV’s streaming service were met with a “could not connect to server” error and a message from the provider that it was working to resolve the issue:

“Sorry about the interruption. We’re working addressing the problem ASAP.”

The issue appeared to have been largely resolved by the early-to-mid fourth quarters of games. Still, it left fans without the

Report: RB Salzburg ‘Expect’ Christoph Freund To Stay

It appears that Christoph Freund’s rumored switch from RB Salzburg to Chelsea is not nearly as close as some reports led fans to believe. Ben Jacobs of CBS Sports has obtained a quote from the club regarding these recent reports.

The quote reads as follows: “FC Red Bull Salzburg has never been contacted from Chelsea to talk about any transfer details of Christoph Freund. We expect him to stay”.

Christoph Freund

Jacobs notes that it is normal for a club to put out such a statement when one of their executives is rumored to be on their way out. This statement could be a form of posturing or it could be a legitimate indicator that Salzburg have no desire to entertain this possibility.

It helps that Freund has reportedly verbally agreed to join the Blues. This may come in handy should the Austrian side
