Georgia remains the unanimous No. 1 team in the CBS Sports 131, our comprehensive ranking of every FBS program. While much of the top 10 remains the same after Week 3 results across college football, there is plenty of movement elsewhere as the sport’s landscape begins to take shape heading into the heart of conference play.

Each of the top seven teams from last week’s rankings — Georgia, Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Oklahoma, USC and Clemson — held their respective positions after wins that affirmed their statuses. But while that top tier of the sport seems to be solidified for the moment, there are a handful of worthy contenders starting to knock at the door of elite status.

Kentucky (No. 8) and Oklahoma State (No. 9) both moved up two spots into the top 10 while improving to 3-0 over the weekend. The wins, both over FCS

What CBS Sports’ Week 1 prediction says about Texans’ offense

The Houston Texans are seven-point underdogs to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 1. The AFC South showdown inside NRG Stadium on Sunday at 12:00 pm Central Time may be a good chance for the Colts to start 1-0.

According to Pete Prisco from CBS Sportsthe Colts will inaugurate the Matt Ryan era with a win, and he actually expects a close game with Indianapolis prevailing 31-27.

This will be Matt Ryan‘s first game as the Colts quarterback after coming over in a trade. Ryan is still more than capable of lighting things up, which will prove to be a challenge for the Texans defense. They also can pound Jonathan Taylor. Davis Mills looked good for the Texans late last year, which will carry over here. Look for a lot of points in a tight game.

The 31 points from Indianapolis is the precise point

USC’s resurgence as college football’s most hated team: ‘Sports needs villains’

LOS ANGELES — Berry Tramel is on the phone, rattling off the first month of USC’s schedule with ease.

The Oklahoman sports columnist knows Sooners fans don’t have much faith in Rice on Sept. 3 but are more hopeful Stanford or Fresno State can score an upset over the Trojans in the subsequent weeks. Or maybe Oregon State in Corvallis in Week 4?

Tramel is confident most Oklahoma fans have committed USC’s early schedule to memory. He’s even more confident in what their feelings about the Trojans will be this fall.

“I would think if Texas played USC, that most OU fans would hold their nose and cheer for Texas,” Tramel said. “They wouldn’t want to, but I think they would.

“They really want to see (Lincoln Riley) fail.”

The truth is, USC infuriated a lot of fan bases this offseason. So the sentiment that’s emanating from Norman, Okla., will

Conor McGregor return will be ‘greatest in sports history’

Audie Attar insists Conor McGregor’s drive hasn’t wavered.

Despite all the success, money and accolades McGregor has achieved, which includes a crossover boxing match with Floyd Mayweather, his manager and business partner Attar says he still has a lot more that he wants to achieve.

McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) became the UFC’s first dual-champion and has sold more pay-per-views than any fighter in UFC history. Although his recent results in the octagon haven’t been his best, “The Notorious” isn’t ready for his last MMA memory to be one of him getting stretched out of the cage.

So what drives McGregor these days? Attar says the answer is simple.

“First and foremost, he loves this sport,” Attar told MMA Junkie. “I think that’s the one thing that’s very special about him. It’s why it’s allowed him to reach a level of success that most fighters aspire to achieve. He loves

Adam Schefter gets crushed on Twitter after promoting Papa John’s

1. With the NFL preseason coming to an end this past weekend, Monday marked a reset of the football calendar.

Major cuts are coming, rosters will be set and the next game we’ll see will be the regular-season opener between the Bills and Rams on Sept. 8.

So how did the NFL’s top information man get this day started at around 8:30 am ET?

By promoting a company that sells a vile concoction that they call pizza, but isn’t really pizza.

The best part about this is Schefter acted like he was unveiling something that the masses would drool over. The reality is, the NFL insider opened the box to reveal something totally unappetizing.

People were relentless.

Let me give you the best tweet first:

In addition to pointing out that the “pizza” looked disgusting, many also pointed out that by putting the pie in the shape of a football,

NEW YORK — A mint condition Mickey Mantle baseball card sold for $12.6 million Sunday, blasting into the record books as the most ever paid for sports memorabilia in a market that has grown exponentially more lucrative in recent years.

The rare Mantle card eclipsed the record just posted a few months ago — $9.3 million for the jersey worn by Diego Maradona when he scored the contentious “Hand of God” goal in soccer’s 1986 World Cup.

It easily surpassed
